TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 22 Arizona lost the second game of the series, 11-3, in six innings to No. 7 Washington on Saturday night.
Blaise Biringer hit her first home run of the season – and seventh homer of her career – to give Arizona an early 3-0 lead in the first inning. The Huskies responded in the second inning with an RBI single and a two-run home run to tie the game.
Washington broke the tie in the fourth inning with a solo home run. In the fifth, the Huskies added three more with an RBI single and a two-RBI double.
In the fourth, Biringer drove in Arizona's first run of the game with an RBI double. Washington answered with back-to-back solo home runs in the fifth to add to their lead.
Washington hit a grand slam in the sixth inning to give the Huskies an eight-run lead and retired Arizona's batters in order in the bottom of the sixth to win the game.
Aissa Silva fell to 11-3 after giving up the tie-breaking home run in the fourth inning. She pitched 2.1 innings and allowed four runs on five hits in relief for
Miranda Stoddard. Stoddard went 3.2 innings, giving up seven runs on nine hits in the game.
