Cats Drop Series Finale to Bruins

LOS ANGELES – No. 19 Arizona lost the final game of the series, 11-7, to No. 19 UCLA on Sunday.
 
Tayler Biehl hit two home runs and led the team with three RBI.
 
The Wildcats came out strong to score three runs in the top of the first. A pair of RBI singles from Skaggs and Scupin and a sacrifice fly gave Arizona the early three-run lead over the Bruins. 
 
In the second, Biehl hit her fifth home run of the season – a solo homer to right field – to give Arizona a 4-0 lead.
 
Arizona added three more in the third inning to take a 7-0 lead. DiNardo drove in her second run of the game with another sac fly and Biehl blasted a two-run home run – her second homer of the game – to extend the Wildcats' lead.
 
UCLA tied the game at 7-7 in the bottom of the fifth. The Bruins scored first on a solo home run. They added two more on a two-run double and tied the game with a grand slam.
 
The Bruins took an 11-7 lead in the sixth with four runs on two RBI singles and a two-run single.
 
In the circle, Silva went 4.2 innings and held the Bruins hitless until they scored seven in the fifth. Brooke Mannon entered in relief in the fifth and picked up the loss to fall to 5-3. Mannon gave up four runs on five hits in the sixth. Miranda Stoddard faced the final two batters in the sixth in relief.

Arizona will return home to host GCU for the final game of the regular season on Tuesday, April 30 at 7 p.m. MST.
