TUCSON, Ariz. – The Big 12 Conference announced the home and away matchups for the upcoming 2024-25 men's basketball season, which will be Arizona's first season in the 16-team conference.
Teams will play five opponents at home and on the road, five opponents at home only and five opponents only on the road, for a total of 20 conference games. The dates, start times and television designations will come at a later date.
Arizona is entering the fourth season under head coach
Tommy Lloyd, who has 88 wins through his first three seasons, the second-most in NCAA history to start a head coaching career.
The teams that the Wildcats will play home and away include Arizona State, BYU, Iowa State, Texas Tech and Baylor, with four of those teams advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2024.
Utah, Colorado, TCU, Houston and Central Florida are the five teams that Arizona will only play in McKale while Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Cincinnati and West Virginia are the teams that Arizona will only play on the road.
All totaled, Arizona will play seven of its 10 conference home games and 11 of 20 overall conference games will be against teams that were selected to the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
Opponents were selected based on a combination of geography, historical results and a poll of the coaches to best balance the schedule in terms of travel and competitiveness.
