TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona guard Pelle Larsson became the 79th player in Arizona Basketball history to be selected in the NBA Draft, when he was taken 44th overall by the Atlanta Hawks, who then traded his rights to the Miami Heat.
Larsson is the fourth Arizona player drafted in three seasons under head coach Tommy Lloyd, joining Bennedict Mathurin, Dalen Terry and Christian Koloko.
Larsson, a Second Team All Pac-12 honoree in 2023-24, appeared in 108 games over three seasons at Arizona and averaged 9.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists. He shot 49.4% from the floor and 38.5% from the 3-point line as a Wildcat and had a 1.65 assist-to-turnover ratio. In his senior year, the Swede averaged 12.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists while connecting at a 51.9% clip from the floor. He helped Arizona to four Pac-12 titles in his three years, two Pac-12 regular season crowns and two Pac-12 Tournament championships.
In his four-year college career, Larsson was the only player in the nation to record at least 1,200 points, 500 rebounds, 300 assists and 100 steals while also shooting at least 49 percent from the field and 39 percent from three-point range in that span.
Following the completion of the draft, former Wildcat Keshad Johnson signed a two-way contract with the Miami Heat. The native of Oakland, Calif., was named honorable mention All Pac-12 Defensive Team and was one of 10 semifinalists for the Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award. In his one year at Arizona, he blossomed on the offensive end by averaging 11.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and shooting 38.7% from the 3-point line.
