Balanced Scoring Leads the Cats Over Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Arizona women's basketball bounced back in commanding fashion, snapping a three-game losing streak with a 74-59 victory over Kansas on Sunday afternoon at Allen Fieldhouse.

The Wildcats were powered by a balanced offensive attack, with five players scoring in double figures. Lauryn Swann led the way with 18 points, including three three-pointers, while Isis Beh registered her first  career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Montaya Dew chipped in a career-high 11 points and added five rebounds off the bench, showcasing Arizona's depth.

Kansas guard S'Mya Nichols paced the Jayhawks with 21 points and four rebounds, but Arizona's defense limited Kansas to just 14.3% shooting from beyond the arc.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Arizona set the tone early, shooting 61.5% from the field in the first quarter and building a 19-11 lead. The Wildcats extended their advantage in the second quarter, heading into halftime with a 37-23 edge. Kansas made a push in the third quarter, narrowing the deficit to 10 points behind Nichols' scoring, but Arizona held firm. The Wildcats dominated the fourth, outscoring Kansas 21-18 to secure the victory.

  • The Wildcats improve to 12-8 and 3-4 in Big 12 play. Arizona is 1-0 against Kansas all-time.
