Men’s Swim & Dive Hosts Harvard at Hillenbrand

TUCSON, ARIZ. — Arizona's Men's Swimming and Diving team will face off against Harvard University on Friday, Jan. 10 at Hillenbrand Aquatics Center in the squad's first meet of 2025.

The Cats are coming off an electric takedown of BYU in late December. At this meet, the Arizona men's swimming team took first place in every competition event. The win against BYU was highlighted by impressive performances from across the squad.

Ralph Daleiden and Gage DuBois were awarded Big 12 Swimmer of the Week and Big 12 Diver of the Week, respectively, for their standout performances against the Cougars.

DuBois, who has now received this conference honor three times this season, swept the men's diving competition against BYU, earning first in the Men's 3m and Platform events and securing 18 points for the Wildcats in their 240-107 victory over the Cougars.

Daledien, who was the Cats' first recipient of the Big 12 Swimmer of the Week award, has had an incredible junior season and overall career at Arizona. This season, the Olympian currently holds three times in the top-20 nationwide: 200 Free (1:32.17-No. 15), 400 Free Relay (2:48.65-No. 9) and 800 Free Relay (6:13.31-No. 5).

Other male Arizona swimmers in the top 20 include:

The Crimson are 3-0 in dual meets this season, having defeated Cornell, Dartmouth and Columbia.

Harvard athletes to watch:

Harvard's Shane Washart is a strong distance swimmer for the Crimson; at the Minnesota Invitational in early December, Washart finished the 1650 Free with a time of 15:27.96, which is nine seconds slower than the Cats' top time this season from Mason Nyboer (15.18.82).

At this same Minnesota meet, Anthony Rincon earned an NCAA B-Cut time in the 200 Back (1:41.37). Will Meyers is the only Arizona swimmer who has posted a faster time in this event, with a 1:41.15 finish at the Wolfpack Elite Invitational. Rincon also holds Harvard's top time in the 100 Back this season (46.58), which again puts him just behind Meyers (46.50).

Harvard's Sonny Wang holds multiple top times for the Crimson, with the No. 1 spot on Harvard's roster in the 50 Free (19.80), 100 Free (43.64) and the No. 2 spot in the 100 Fly (46.81).

Harvard also has a solid Individual Medley crew. In the 200 IM, Adriano Arioti holds the top time for the Crimson (1:46.94), which is .94 seconds behind Haakon Naughton's top time for the Cats (1:46.00). Eric Lee and Richard Poplawski of Harvard both boast times in the 1:48.00-1:49.00 range. In the 400 IM, Poplawski and Lee have both posted times under 3:52.00, while Arizona's top time this season comes from Bryan Wong (3:52.72).
