Arizona Upsets No. 16 Baylor in Three Sets

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona swept No. 16 Baylor (25-21, 32-30, 25-23) to secure the upset over the Bears on Friday night in McKale. The Wildcats improved to 9-6 (3-2 Big 12) with the win.   

The Wildcats recorded 43 kills, five aces, and nine blocks to take down the Bears. Jordan Wilson led the offense with 19 kills while Carlie Cisneros followed with 12 kills. The defense was led by Journey Tucker who totaled seven blocks and Ana Heath with six blocks. Libero Brenna Ginder totaled 12 digs for the Cats.    
 
Arizona won the first set, 25-21. The Cats hit .250 and served four aces during the set and used late runs to create separation from the Bears. Wilson had five kills while Adrianna Bridges and Tucker recorded two kills each. Haven Wray served a pair of aces to help the Wildcats win the opening set.
 
The Wildcats won the second set, 32-30, to take a 2-0 lead in the match. Arizona fought through 14 tie scores and five set points for Baylor to win the set. The Cats totaled 20 kills with Cisneros and Wilson leading the way with eight kills each. Heath added two kills for Arizona to help the Cats take the set.
 
Arizona won the third set, 25-23, to secure the upset sweep over Baylor. The Wildcats tallied six blocks to hold the Bears to a .048 hitting percentage and used a late 3-0 run to create momentum and win the match. Heath and Tucker had five blocks each to help Arizona win the set. Wilson recorded six kills to lead the Wildcats' attack and Cisneros added three kills.

Arizona will the road to take on UCF on Friday, October 17 before heading to Houston on Sunday, October 19.
