TEMPE, Ariz. – Ten Wildcats will make the trip to Tempe to compete in the ITA Southwest Regional Championships, set for Oct. 17–22. The event offers Arizona student-athletes the chance to earn a coveted berth to the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships in November.
Representing Arizona are freshmen Pepijn Bastiaansen and Alejandro Arcila, sophomores Filip Gustafsson, Oskar Jansson, Matthias Uwe Kask, Zoran Ludoski, and Glib Sekachov, juniors Cole Stelse and Alexander Rozin, along with senior transfer Baran Soyler.
The Southwest Regional is one of three major qualifying opportunities on the road to Orlando, joining the ITA Sectionals and ITA Conference Masters next month. From this championship, the two singles finalists and doubles champion will advance to the NCAA tournament.
Arizona is already guaranteed representation in Orlando, as Jay Friend, the reigning ITA All-American Champion, has secured his spot in the NCAA Singles Championship.
Match ups and start times for this week's tournament will be announced later.
