TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Volleyball (8-6, 2-2 Big 12) lost to No. 24 Colorado in four sets (23-25, 28-26, 18-25, 22-25) on Wednesday night in McKale Center.
Arizona's defense recorded six blocks and the Wildcats served six aces in the match.
Carlie Cisneros and
Jordan Wilson both tallied 13 kills to lead the offense.
Colorado won the first set 25-23. Both teams had 13 kills but the Buffs out-hit the Wildcats .195-.047 in the back-and-forth first set. Wilson led Arizona with five kills and
Journey Tucker followed with four kills and a .600 clip with two blocks.
The Wildcats evened the match with a 28-26 win in the second set. Arizona had two blocks to hold Colorado to a .049 hitting percentage to even the match.
Ana Heath led the attack with five kills and Cisneros followed with three kills. Three Wildcats –
Adrianna Bridges, Wilson, and
Sydnie Vanek – had two kills each in the set.
The Buffs won the third set 25-18. Colorado hit .387 and used a 7-0 run in the middle of the set to pull away from Arizona and keep the lead the rest of the set. Bridges and Vanek had three kills each while Vanek and
Avery Scoggins combined for one block but it wasn't enough for the Cats to win the set.
Arizona lost the fourth set, 22-25. Colorado out-hit Arizona .326-.227 to win the set. Cisneros led the offense with six kills and Wilson followed with five kills but the Buffs had two blocks to hold Arizona off.
The Wildcats will welcome No. 16 Baylor on Friday, October 10. The match is set to begin at 6 p.m. MST in McKale Center.
