The 2026 Arnold Palmer Cup will be held July 3-5 at Tralee Golf Links in Barrow, Co. Kerry, Ireland and Arizona Men's Golf assistant coach Matt Walton has been named co-assistant coach for Team International at the prestigious event.

"It's an honor to be selected as an Assistant Captain for the International Team at the 2026 Arnold Palmer Cup, one of the premier events in the game of golf," said Walton. "The University of Arizona has a deep history with the Arnold Palmer Cup and I am humbled to have the chance to add to it on the coaching side. The opportunity to support and coach the student-athletes during this event is very special to me and I am grateful to everyone that has made it possible."

The Ryder Cup style event has Team USA playing Team International in a battle that features the top amateur golfers in the world. Walton will serve as co-assistant captain on the International side along with Veronique Drouin-Luttrell (Oklahoma), Yoshio Yamamoto (South Carolina) and Jake Amos (LSU).

Walton is originally from Lytham St. Annes, England and is in his third year as assistant coach for the Wildcats. In his first season, the Wildcats won three tournament championships and clinched a spot in the post season at the NCAA Championship. The winning continued in his second year with the Cats claiming two tournament championships and advanced to the NCAA Regional round. Most recently, the Wildcats won the Jackson T. Stephens Cup this past fall. Throughout his time, numerous players have earned post season honors including four All-Conference Teams, four PING All-Region Teams and one All-Freshman Team.
