Happy Holidays 2025

General

AD Newsletter - December 23, 2025

Dear Wildcats,

The holiday season brings a special energy to campus—a mix of excitement, anticipation, and renewed spirit as our student-athletes finish finals and prepare for the months ahead. It’s a time filled with tradition and celebration, and Arizona Athletics is proud to be part of the moments that make this season meaningful for so many Wildcat families.

As we come to the conclusion of the year, I want to once again thank you for your support that drives the progress and momentum across our department. Earlier this month, Arizona Athletics surpassed our $1 million Giving Day goal, directly benefiting our 504 student-athletes. Because of you, they have access to scholarships, academic resources, and leadership and career development opportunities that shape their experience long after their time competing for the Wildcats. As 2025 comes to a close, many of you have asked about year-end giving opportunities. If you wish to make a holiday gift, you may contact the Wildcat Club or give online here

What an extraordinary fall for Arizona Athletics!

Football capped the regular season ranked No. 17 in the nation, reclaimed the Territorial Cup, closed out with a five-game winning streak, posted a 9–3 record, and earned a berth in the Holiday Bowl. This run is a reflection of our student-athletes’ commitment, the leadership of Coach Brennan and his staff, and the enthusiasm of our fans.

Momentum continues across all our programs:

  • Men’s Basketball climbed to No. 1 in the country and has secured five wins over ranked opponents.
  • Women’s Basketball continues to build early-season strength and consistency.
  • Volleyball reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2016.
  • Cross Country celebrated Evans Tanui placing in the top 50 at NCAAs—the program’s best finish in over a decade.

Gloria and Jean Donor Newsletter December 2025

These achievements are made even more meaningful by the people who support and embody the spirit of Arizona.

Our administrative team recently had a chance to sit down with Gloria and Jean, season ticket holders since the 1980s. They talked about the unmistakable electricity inside McKale and the pride they feel each time they cheer on the Wildcats.

Their long-standing commitment reflects the passion and loyalty that define our community.

2025 Arizona Athletics Hall of Fame Class

Last month, we were honored to welcome our 2025 Hall of Fame Class that featured seven exceptional former student-athletes, our 2024 Triathlon National Champions, and two past NCAA champion swim relay squads. Their accomplishments, integrity, and impact represent the very best of Arizona Athletics.

Click here to read more about the class and their accomplishments.

Former UA Football great Nick Foles also returned to Casino Del Sol Stadium as the honorary captain for our final home football game. Beyond his remarkable career, his involvement with Mentoring Tucson’s Kids has made a lasting difference in the lives of Jose and Aaron Martinez and their brothers.

His example of service, leadership, and humility reflects the values we strive to instill in every Wildcat. We were able to connect them during his visit and record a video above.

As we approach Thanksgiving, I want to express my sincere gratitude for you—our loyal supporters, alumni, letterwinners, and fans—who make Arizona Athletics so special. Your passion and generosity are the heartbeat of this program and our student-athletes recognize your generosity.

On December 2, we’ll come together once again for Arizona Giving Day, a day when we show the power of the Wildcat community. Your generosity on that day—and every day—keeps our programs strong, our facilities competitive, and our student-athletes supported in every facet of their journey.

Finally, I want to take another opportunity to recognize the extraordinary life and legacy of Dr. Cedric Dempsey. As we welcomed back his family to Tucson this past weekend, we were reminded that Arizona’s strength has always come from its people—from those who invest in the future and believe in what’s next.

2025 Holiday Card full

As the holidays approach, we hope this season brings you joy, connection, and moments of celebration with those who matter most. Thank you for continuing to stand with our student-athletes and for strengthening the foundation on which our programs continue to grow.

Your support fuels our mission to develop and graduate leaders, win championships, and unite our community through the power of sport. We look forward to carrying this momentum into the new year and sharing even more memorable moments with you in 2026.

Let’s continue to Bear Down together. We hope to see you at the Holiday Bowl on January 2 in San Diego and throughout campus as basketball, gymnastics, and swimming continue their seasons!

Thank you for all you do for our Wildcats.

Bear Down,
