TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona women's basketball fell to No. 11 TCU, 85-73, on Sunday, Feb. 16 in McKale Center.
The Cats were lead by an exceptional performance from
Skylar Jones, who put up a career-high 30 points, the most scored by an individual player on the Wildcat roster since 2023. Two other Cats put up double-digit performances.
Paulina Paris contributed 14 points, going 6-17 on field goals and shooting 2-6 beyond the arc. Freshman
Lauryn Swann looked great from beyond the arc, shooting 4-5 on 3-point attempts.
Breya Cunningham tacked on 6 points and four rebounds and
Katarina Kneževic earned 5 points on 2-5 shooting off the bench.
Isis Beh tallied 4 points in addition to her three rebounds and three assists.
The Cats shot an impressive 67% on 12-of-18 from beyond the arc and 48% from the field.Â
Defensively, Jones led the team in rebounds, securing five boards. Cunningham followed, grabbing four rebounds for Arizona. The Cats were able to take advantage of TCU's missteps, earning 15 points off of turnovers from the Horned Frogs.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cats kept things close to start the game, trailing 18-17 at the end of the first quarter, but the Horned Frogs pulled away in the second quarter, outscoring Arizona 27-21. Throughout the first half, the programs traded leads six times. Key 3-point shots from Swann brought the Cats within 2 points towards the end of the second period, but Arizona went into the half trailing 45-38. The Horned Frogs maintained control throughout the second half, shooting 57% from the field compared to Arizona's 46% and outscoring the Cats 40-35.Â
