TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 11 Wildcats beat UC Davis and Colorado State on Friday at the Hillenbrand Invitational.
Game 1 | No. 11 Arizona 7, UC Davis 0
Arizona took the first game of the day, 7-0, over UC Davis.
Regan Shockey went 3-for-3 and
Jenna Sniffen went 2-for-3. Two Wildcats – Sniffen and
Sydney Stewart – drove in two runs each.
The Cats struck first with one run in the bottom of the first on a bases loaded wild pitch.
Arizona's offense exploded for five runs in the third to take a 6-0 lead over the Aggies. A pair of two-RBI singles from Sniffen and Stewart and an RBI groundout from
Paige Dimler plated Arizona's five runs in the inning.
Logan Cole hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth to send Dimler home for Arizona's seventh run of the game.
Aissa Silva picked up the win to improve to 3-0. She went 6.0 innings and struck out five batters.
Sarah Wright entered in relief in the seventh, allowing just one hit in three batters faced.
Game 2 | No. 11 Arizona 10, Colorado State 0 (5 inn.)
The Wildcats run-ruled the Rams, 10-0, in the second game of the day. Shockey and Dimler both went 2-for-3 and
Miranda Stoddard drove in four runs.
Arizona took an early 3-0 lead after the first inning. A pair of RBI fielder's choices and a fielding error allowed the Cats to score three runs in the first.
In the third, Dimler hit a two-run single and another fielding error by Colorado State allowed Stewart to score to give Arizona a 6-0 lead.
The Cats plated four runs in the fourth on a three-run home run from Stoddard and an RBI double from Sniffen.
Saya Swain went 4.0 innings to earn the win and improve to 2-0. She struck out three Rams and allowed just one hit.
Ryan Maddox relived Swain in the final inning, allowing just one hit and keeping Colorado State scoreless.
