TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 17 Arizona split the second day of the Candrea Classic, losing to Washington before run-ruling Michigan State.

The Cats dropped the first game of the day, 6-2, to Washington.
Regan Shockey and
Kaiah Altmeyer had two hits each but the Huskies hit two home runs to overcome Arizona.
Arizona struck first on an RBI single from
Sydney Stewart. The Cats took a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a sac-fly from
Tayler Biehl.
Washington tied the game in the top of the third with a two-run home run. In the fourth, the Huskies added three more runs on their second home run of the game. Washington's sixth run came in the fifth inning on an RBI single.
Devyn Netz pitched 3.0 innings before
Saya Swain entered in relief. Swain went 4.0 innings and struck out four Huskies.
Game 2 | No. 17 Arizona 14, Western Michigan 6 (6 inn.)
Arizona run-ruled its second game, 14-6, in six innings over Western Michigan to close out the day.
Dakota Kennedy drove in six runs and
Logan Cole went 3-for-3.
The Cats scored in the first inning on a passed ball before adding three more runs in the second inning on a sac-fly and a pair of RBI walks.
Following a scoreless third inning, Western Michigan struck for six runs in the fourth. An error, a three-run home run, and a wild pitch allowed the Broncos to take a 6-4 lead.
Devyn Netz brought Arizona within one run with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth.
Dakota Kennedy hit a two-run home run in the fifth to give Arizona a 7-6 lead. The Cats exploded offensively with seven runs in the sixth to mercy rule the Broncos. A pair of RBI singles from
Anyssa Wild and
Paige Dimler, a three-run double from Kennedy, and a pair of RBI fielder's choices from
Emily Schepp and Shockey helped the Cats win the game.
In the circle,
Ryan Maddox earned her first career win, pitching 1.1 innings in relief.
Miranda Stoddard started in the circle, going 3.2 and allowing just two hits.
