TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 7 Arizona improved to 26-4 (4-2 Big 12) with a 3-0 shutout over Utah on Sunday at Hillenbrand Stadium. The Wildcats swept a Big 12 series for the first time with the win over the Utes.
Arizona tallied five hits and drew five walks in the final game of the series against Utah.
Miranda Stoddard went 2-for-3 with a home run and
Tayler Biehl also recorded two hits.
Following two-and-a-half scoreless innings,
Dakota Kennedy broke the tie with an RBI single to drive in the first run of the game for the Cats in the third inning.
Stoddard hit a two-run home run in the fourth – her ninth homer of the season – to give Arizona a 3-0 lead over Utah.
The rest of the game was a pitcher's duel, with both teams leaving runners on base in the sixth inning.
Aissa Silva and
Devyn Netz worked to retire four straight batters to keep Utah scoreless.
In the circle, Netz picked up her 10th win of the season after pitching 3.1 innings in relief. She allowed five hits but did not give up a run to the Utes.
Saya Swain started the game and went 3.0 innings with three strikeouts before Netz entered.
Aissa Silva faced the last batter in the sixth inning and left two runners stranded.

The Wildcats will head to Phoenix to face GCU on Wednesday, March 19 at 7 p.m. MST before heading to Arizona State to continue Big 12 play beginning Friday, March 21.
