Wildcats Take Fifth at Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate Against Stacked Field

Wildcats shoot even-par in the final round to place fifth at the Charles Schwab Women's Collegiate at Colonial. The Cat put on a great performance in the final round with the third lowest round of the day. This is a top five finish against a field with 13 teams ranked inside the top 30 nationally and all fifteen teams inside the top 50. Three Wildcats placed inside the top 25 including Carolina Melgrati who placed 14th.

Melgrati saved her best round for the last one as she carded a 69 to push herself to 3-over for the tournament. This week she was tied for the fifth best par five scoring average playing them a combined 3-under par. Nena Wongthanavimok had the lowest round at 2-under par which included four birdies. Wongthanavimok bounced back in a big way to help the Wildcats in the final round after struggling to get things going on day one.

Charlotte Back played consistent golf all tournament long and finished at 4-over par. She went 70, 72 and 72 in her three rounds. She finished tied for 19th to give her the sixth top 20 finish of the season. Julia Mismer shot 1-over par in the final round to finish tied for 23rd. This is her fourth top 25 finish of her season. After two 71s yesterday, Lilas Pinthier shot a 77 in the final round. She finished tied for 37th alongside Nena Wongthanavimok.

It was such an amazing opportunity to play a historic course like Colonial. The Wildcats were able to make the most of their opportunities and found lots of birdies on the course. They had the second most birdies of any team. Additionally, they also had the third best par four scoring average and a top five par five scoring average.

Next time the Cats are in action is April 7-9th for the Chevron Napa Showdown.
