The Milan, Italy native's 2025 invite represents the eighth time an Arizona Wildcat has played in ANWA since the tournament began in 2019. Haley Moore, Yu-Sang Hou and Vivian Hou played in the inaugural event in 2019 before it was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. The Hou sisters competed again in 2021 and were followed by Melgrati's first appearance in 2022 and then the second appearance the year after.Â
This year marks the sixth edition of the popular Augusta National Women's Amateur, which was first played in 2019. As in past tournaments, 72 elite amateur women golfers will compete across three rounds to determine the winner. Among them are 49 of the top 50 players in the Women's Amateur Golf Rankings. The format includes the 72 women amateurs competing in 54 holes of stroke play on Wednesday and Thursday. Following those rounds, the field will be cut to the top 30 players and ties. Friday will feature a practice round at Augusta National for all competitors, whether or not they made the cut. Then on Saturday, April 5, the top 30 players will compete across 18 holes at Augusta National to determine the 2025 champion.
Arizona's best finish at the event came in 2019 when Haley Moore finished in a tie for seventh and remains the only Wildcat to make the cut at ANWA.
