Mens Tennis Wraps Up Battle in the Bay & Wildcat Invite

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Men's Tennis opened its fall slate with strong performances at the Wildcat Invitational and Battle in the Bay, earning multiple statement wins in both singles and doubles play while gaining valuable experience against nationally ranked competition.

 

Home at LaNelle

The Wildcats opened with energy at the Wildcat Invitational, highlighted by Junior Cole Stelse and Sophomore Oskar Jansson scoring a doubles win over UNM's Bosin/Skerbatis. Jansson carried the momentum into singles, earning a dominant 6-1, 6-1 victory over Takumi Katsuda (NAU). Stelse followed with a solid fall season win, edging out Alberto Perez (UNM) 7-6 (5), 6-2.

Day two continued the strong play, as Stelse and Jansson secured another doubles win, 7-5 over NMSU's Snell/Urlaub. Both Wildcats battled through competitive singles matches to earn spots in their respective draw finals, with Jansson defeating UNLV's Vitality Horovoy (6-4, 7-5) and Stelse rallying in three sets against Brock Anderson (6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (1)).

Championship Sunday brought tightly contested matches. Jansson and Stelse both pushed their opponents but ultimately fell in their finals.
 

In the Bay

In San Francisco, Zoran Ludoski and Alexander Rozin opened in style, posting an impressive doubles win over the nation's No. 26-ranked pair from USD (8-2). In singles, both Wildcats added quality victories on day one—No. 63 Ludoski topping Pouatcha (Cal) 7-5, 6-1, and No. 89 Rozin outlasting Maximus Dussault (TCU) 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.

Rozin continued his strong play on Friday with another comeback victory (0-6, 6-1, 6-4) to advance to the semifinals. Ludoski and Rozin both faced nationally ranked opponents the rest of the way, gaining valuable experience against some of the top competition in the country.

On Sunday, Ludoski closed the weekend with a statement win, rallying past ASU's No. 118 Jelani Sarr in a super tiebreak (6-7 (5), 6-3, 10-7). Rozin added another competitive outing to his fall résumé, further solidifying his standing among the nation's elite.

The Wildcats return to action September 20 to compete at the ITA All-Americans in Tulsa Oklahoma.
