MANHATTAN, Kan. – Arizona Volleyball beat Kansas State in four sets (25-19, 19-25, 25-14, 27-25) on Friday night in Manhattan, Kansas to open the Big 12 slate. Arizona improved to 7-4 (1-0 Big 12) with the victory.
Arizona tallied nine blocks and served eight aces to take down K-State.
Jordan Wilson led all attackers with 21 kills and a .333 hitting percentage.
Ana Heath followed with 11 kills while
Carlie Cisneros had eight kills each.
Adrianna Bridges served five aces and led the defense with five blocks while Heath recorded four blocks.
Arizona won the first set, 25-19. Arizona had four blocks and hit .387 to take the 1-0 lead in the match over Kansas State. Wilson led the way with six kills and a .308 clip. Cisneros and Heath added three kills each. Cisneros, Bridges, and
Journey Tucker recorded two blocks each to hold K-State to a .233 hitting percentage.
Kansas State evened the match with a 25-19 win in the second set. Arizona fell to a 0-6 deficit to begin the set and couldn't come back. K-State tallied five blocks to hold Arizona to a .024 hitting percentage to tie the match at 1-1. Wilson had three kills and a trio of Arizona Wildcats knocked down two kills each in the set.
Arizona took a 2-1 lead in the match after winning the third set 25-14. Arizona's offense hit .355 and the defense totaled four blocks to hold Kansas State to a .053 clip to win the set. Heath helped the Wildcats take a 2-1 lead with three blocks, five kills, and a .714 hitting percentage in the third set. Wilson also had five kills and Bridges added three blocks to help the defense.
The Arizona Wildcats won the match with a 27-25 win in the fourth set. Both teams hit above .320 and K-State had three blocks but Arizona had 19 kills to beat Kansas State. Wilson led the way with seven kills and Bridges added five kills to help Arizona win the set.
Paige Thies served an ace to win the match for Arizona.
The Arizona Wildcats will face No. 18 Kansas on Sunday, September 28 in Lawrence, Kansas. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m. MST and will be televised on ESPN.
