Cats Sweep Tritons to Close Out Boise State Classic

BOISE, Idaho – Arizona closed out the Boise State Classic with a sweep over UC San Diego (25-16, 25-16, 25-22) to improve to 6-0 on the season.

Jordan Wilson was named the MVP of the Boise State Classic while Ana Heath and Avery Scoggins made the all-tournament team. 

The Wildcats hit .350 as a team and tallied seven blocks and eight aces. Ana Heath led the offense with nine kills and a .571 clip while Jordan Wilson had eight kills with a .500 hitting percentage. Adrianna Bridges recorded four blocks to lead the defense.
 
The Cats won the first set, 25-16. Arizona hit .333 and used three blocks to hold UC San Diego to a .036 hitting percentage. The Cats opened the set on a 6-0 run and held the lead the rest of the way. Three players – Heath, Wilson, and Sydnie Vanek – had three kills each. Bridges and Heath both recorded two blocks to help the defense.   
 
Arizona won the second set, 25-16. The Wildcats went on a 10-0 run to open the set and the Tritons never caught up. Arizona hit .462 and were led by Heath who had four kills. Paige Thies and Wilson added three kills each to help the Cats dominate the second set.
 
The Wildcats won the match with a 25-22 win the third set. In a back-and-forth set, Arizona took the final lead at 18-17 to win the set. Bridges and Carlie Cisneros led the offense with three kills each while Bridges also had two blocks. Wilson helped Arizona win the set with a pair of service aces.

Arizona will head to the Husky Invitational September 12-13 where the Cats will face Washington and San Diego.
