Norman, Okla. - No. 11 Men's Tennis is set to face off against No. 21 University of Oklahoma this Friday, Jan. 16 at 5 p.m. MST at Headington Family Tennis Center.
Arizona enters the match up riding strong momentum after a successful weekend in Boca Raton, where the Wildcats posted 26 combined wins across singles and doubles play, and
Alexander Rozin was named Big 12 Tennis Player of the Week after finishing with a perfect record of 5-0. The team will look to carry that form into a highly anticipated non-conference showdown against a ranked Sooners team.
Friday's contest marks the seventh all-time meeting between Arizona and Oklahoma. The Wildcats claimed the most recent match up in 2023, earning a decisive 4–0 victory in Norman.
Oklahoma comes into the weekend ranked No. 21 nationally and boasts a talented lineup featuring three nationally ranked singles players along with one ranked doubles team, setting the stage for a competitive battle.
There are four Cats who are currently ranked in the singles poll:
Jay Friend at No. 4,
Filip Gustafsson at No. 58, Mattias Uwe Kask at No. 106, and
Pepijn Bastiaansen at No.107.
With both programs nationally ranked and recent history favoring the Wildcats, Friday's match up promises to be an early-season test and an exciting showcase of top-tier collegiate tennis.
The weekend's events will be streamed on PlaySight and live results will be available on StatBroadcast.
