NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Arizona men's tennis team opened its spring season on the road, falling 4-2 to Oklahoma on Sunday at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
Arizona struck first by securing the doubles point, winning on courts three and one. The duo on court three earned a 6-3 victory, while the Wildcats clinched the point with a tightly contested 7-6 (4) win on court one.
The Wildcats continued their momentum into singles play, as Mattias Uwe Kask delivered Arizona's second point with a strong performance on court six to give the Cats an early lead. Oklahoma responded with victories across courts two, three, four, and five to ultimately clinch the match.
Despite the final result, Arizona showed resilience and competitiveness in its season opener against a nationally respected Sooners squad.
The Wildcats will return to Tucson for their home opener, hosting New Mexico State in a doubleheader on Monday, January 19, at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.
