
Arizona Wins Two Events, Finishes Strong on Final Day of Corky Classic

LUBBOCK, Texas – Arizona Track & Field posted strong marks at the Corky Classic on Friday and Saturday.
FRIDAY - In a very competitive field, the Wildcats advanced to a handful of running event finals and posted good results in the field events.
TOP-THREE FINISHES
Mason Lawyer - Second, Men's 60m (6.58)
FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
In the men's weight throw, Michael Ogbeiwi finished fourth with a throw of 65-11 (20.09m), and Tyler Michelini placed sixth with a personal-best heave of 61-10.25 (18.85m).
In the women's weight throw, Tapenisa Havea placed fourth with a throw of 58-4.75 (17.80m).
TRACK HIGHLIGHTS
In the first round of the men's 60m, Mason Lawyer clocked a time of 6.66 to finish fourth and advance to the event's semi-finals. In the event's semi-finals, Lawyer finished sixth with a time of 6.66 to advance to the event's finals. In the event's finals, Lawyer clocked a time of 6.58 to place second overall.
In the first round of the women's 60m hurdles, Taylen Wise clocked a time of 8.50 to finish ninth and advance to the event's semi-finals. In the event's semi-finals, Wise finished fifth with a time of 8.36 to advance to the event's finals. In the event's finals, Wise clocked a time of 8.29 to place fourth overall.
Kara Mickelson finished fourth overall in the women's 800m with a time of 2:10.87.
SATURDAY - Arizona takes home two event wins in a highly competitive field on both the field and the track, winning one in each.

Mason Lawyer - First, Men's 200m (20.99)
Haedyn Bambolo - First, Women's Shot Put (16.62m)
Tapenisa Havea - Third, Women's Shot Put (15.89m)
Ena McMahon - Third, Women's Pole Vault (3.76m)
FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
In the women's shot put, the Wildcats took first and third, with Haedyn Bambolo winning the event, posting a personal best throw of 54-6.50 (16.62m). Tapenisa Havea finished third with a throw of 52-1.75 (15.89m)
On the other side, in the men's shot put Sam Hala'Ufia finished fifth with a throw of 59-9.00 (18.21m). Tyler Michelini finished eighth, and Michael Ogbeiwi finished twelfth in the event as well.
In the women's pole vault, Ena McMahon finished third with a vault of 12-4.00 (3.76m). Kelly De Jong finished in sixth with a vault of 12-4.00 (3.76m) as well.
TRACK HIGHLIGHTS
In the women's 200m, Brooke Lyons finished fourth overall with a time of 23.83.
In the men's 200m, Mason Lawyer won the event with a time of 20.99.
Arizona's team of Yan Vasquez, Royal Haley, Jayshaun Smith, and Parker Duskin finished fourteenth in the men's 4x400m relay with a time of 3:12.65.

The Wildcats are back in action next weekend for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational hosted by New Mexico in Albuquerque, N.M., on January 23-24.
