Arizona Men’s Basketball Unanimous No. 1 in AP Poll for First Time

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Arizona men's basketball team picked up a pair of wins last week over Arizona State and UCF to improve to 18-0 on the season, one of three remaining undefeated teams in the country. The Wildcats have also held the top spot in the Associated Press Top 25 poll since Dec. 8 and were once again on top of the poll today (Jan. 19). However, this week marked the first time in program history that Arizona was a unanimous selection for the top spot, earning first place votes from all 61 voters.

It is the 45th time since the Associated Press Top 25 poll began in 1949 that Arizona has been No. 1 and the sixth consecutive poll this season. It's the longest run at No. 1 for the Wildcats since 2013-14, when Arizona was at the top for eight straight weeks.

Arizona opened the season at No. 13 in the preseason poll before moving up to No. 10 after the first week of the season. The following week, they moved up to No. 5 and then No. 4 before climbing to No. 2 for two weeks and then taking over the top spot on Dec. 8.

This week, Arizona will host Cincinnati on Wednesday (7pm, FS1) followed by West Virginia on Saturday (12pm, CBS). A limited number of tickets to both games are available at ArizonaWildcats.com/MBK.
