Men’s Tennis Tabbed Second in Big 12 Preseason Poll

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Arizona men's tennis team was predicted to finish second in the nine-team Big 12 Preseason Poll, as announced by the conference Tuesday.

The Wildcats received 65 total points, as they were slotted six points behind the predicted conference champion, TCU. Arizona received one first place vote, while TCU garnered seven first place votes.

The Wildcats have lofty expectations for the 2026 season, as they are coming off a campaign in which they compiled an overall record of 26-5, won the Big 12 Tournament Championship in their inaugural season as a member of the conference, and reached the third round of the 2025 NCAA Championship.

Arizona had an exceptional fall season ahead of the 2026 campaign. Jay Friend, Alexander Rozin, and Filip Gustafsson each qualified for the NCAA Singles Championship, and Friend won his first ATP Challenger Title, in addition to becoming the first Wildcat to win the ITA All-American Championship. Arizona also had a dominant performance at the Hagedorn Hidden Dual Championship, earning a complete sweep in both singles and doubles.

The Wildcats will aim to secure a Regular Season Big 12 Tournament this spring, as well as repeat as Big 12 Tournament Champions.

Arizona is set to compete in a Hidden Dual to commence the season from Jan. 9-11, before taking on Oklahoma on the road on Friday, Jan. 16 in their first match. The Wildcats open Big 12 play in Provo, Utah against BYU on Thursday, March 12.
