FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Arizona Track & Field begins the 2025-26 indoor season on Friday with the Friday Night Axe 'Em Open. The meet will be hosted by Northern Arizona at the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome and marks the first official competition of the year for the Wildcats.
The competition is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m. MST on Friday with field events. Running events get underway at 4:00 p.m. MST. Live results for the full afternoon of competition can be found
here.
"Always an exciting time of the year, heading into the first meet," said Track & Field Head Coach Andrew Dubs. "This will give us an opportunity to compete against some new competition instead of just ourselves at practice. This will be a good measuring stick to see where we are in certain areas. We will have several field event athletes and some sprinters opening up, so we're just excited to get started and see where everyone is at."
The Wildcats had six indoor All-Americans last season, three of whom are returning during this indoor season:
Emma Gates (High Jump),
Tyler Michelini (Shot Put), and
Paris Mikinski (High Jump).
During Arizona's first indoor season in the Big 12 last year, the team posted 20 first-place finishes. This season will present new opportunities for the team, with it being their second official season in the Big 12.
In last year's season opener in Flagstaff, the Wildcats were able to break three school records in the 60m, 60m Hurdles, and 300m. They will look to continue their success up north on Friday.
A meet recap will be posted
here detailing the competition results. Live updates will also be posted to @ArizonaTrack on
X.
