TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona built a first-half lead and maintained control down the stretch Wednesday night, defeating BYU 75–68 behind balanced scoring and steady defense.
Arizona (24-2, 11-2 Big 12) set the tone early with efficient offense and strong ball movement, creating separation before halftime. The Wildcats took a 42–35 lead into the break and extended the margin to as many as 16 points in the second half, forcing BYU to play from behind for most of the game.
Anthony Dell'Orso led Arizona with 22 points off the bench on 8-of-15 shooting, including four 3-pointers. Ivan Kharchenkov added 18 points and seven rebounds, providing a consistent presence on both ends of the floor. Jaden Bradley contributed 12 points and matched his career high with 10 assists, effectively managing the offense and creating opportunities for teammates.
Arizona shot 45.3% from the field and 42.9% from beyond the arc, connecting on nine 3-pointers. The team also showcased its depth, outscoring BYU 26–6 off the bench and generating key second-chance points to maintain momentum.
BYU (19-7, 7-6 Big 12) was led by AJ Dybantsa, who scored a game-high 35 points and kept the Cougars within striking distance throughout the second half. However, BYU struggled to find consistent offensive support and shot just 26.3% from three-point range as a team.
Arizona's defense played a significant role in securing the win. The Wildcats limited BYU's perimeter efficiency and controlled the glass with a 39–32 rebounding advantage. Contributions from the frontcourt helped limit second-chance opportunities and disrupt BYU's offensive rhythm.
Despite trailing by double digits, BYU made a late push to cut the deficit to single digits in the closing minutes. Arizona responded by slowing the tempo, executing in half-court sets, and making key defensive stops to protect the lead.
Arizona led for the majority of the game and controlled the pace, relying on balanced scoring and disciplined play to close out the victory. With consistent contributions across the roster and strong execution on both ends, the team continues to show its ability to manage games and finish strong.
Former Wildcats Nick Johnson, Kaleb Tarczewski and Kenny Lofton were in attendance, supporting the program that they contributed to during their careers.Â
The No. 4 Wildcats will travel to Houston to take on No. 2 Houston on Saturday, February 21st at 1:00 MST. The game will be televised on ABC.
