TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 14 Arizona improved to 13-5 with a five-inning 8-0 win over Eastern Illinois on Thursday night.
The Wildcats scored eight runs on eight hits and
Sereniti Trice led the team with three hits and three runs scored. In the circle,
Rylie Holder picked up her fourth win of the season after tossing a complete-game shutout and allowing just two hits.
Arizona took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning after
Sydney Stewart drove in a pair of runs on a double.
The Wildcats added three runs in the second to take a 5-0 lead over the Panthers. Trice doubled to left center to bring home two runs and then scored from second base on a wild pitch to round out the inning.
In the fourth inning, the Cats plated three to extend their lead to 8-0.
Tayler Biehl drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly to right center. Stewart had an RBI single and
Grace Jenkins picked up an RBI with a single to center field.
