No. 14 Arizona Closes Out Hillenbrand Invitational With Run-Rule Over LBSU

TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 14 Arizona ended the Hillenbrand Invitational with a run-rule win over Long Beach State, 12-2, in five innings on Sunday.   
 
The Cats totaled 13 hits to score 12 runs and hit two home runs in the game. Jenna Sniffen went 3-for-3 at the plate with four RBI and hit one of Arizona's home runs.
 
LBSU struck with two runs in the first inning to take an early 2-0 lead over Arizona. An RBI single brought in the first run and the second run scored on a fielder's choice sacrifice bunt.
 
Arizona's offense came out strong, scoring eight runs in the bottom of the first to take the lead. Sydney Stewart drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in the first run and Grace Jenkins had an RBI fielder's choice to plate the second run. Emma Kavanagh drew the second bases-loaded walk of the inning and Sniffen hit a two-run single to add to Arizona's lead. Addison Duke had an RBI single, Sniffen stole home, and Regan Shockey rounded out the inning with an RBI single.  
 
The Wildcats added two more in the second inning to take a 10-2 lead over the Beach. Kavanagh blasted a two-run home run – her fifth of the season – to extend Arizona's lead.
 
In the fourth, Sniffen recorded her third hit of the game with a two-run home run to put Arizona up 12-2.
 
Rylie Holder picked up the win to improve to 6-1 after pitching four innings and allowing two runs on four hits while striking out two. Jalen Adams entered in the fifth to face the final three batters and struck out one.
