TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Softball's
Sydney Stewart has earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors, announced by the conference on Tuesday. This is the first time Stewart has been honored by the Big 12 this season.

Stewart led Arizona to three run-rule victories over BYU to open Big 12 play with a .667 batting average, two home runs, eight RBI, and a 2.533 OPS. She recorded a 1.833 slugging percentage and a .700 on-base percentage to lead the team.

The senior from San Jose, California helped the Wildcats take down the Cougars in the first game of the series with a pair of hits and a career-high-tying five RBI. In Arizona's second run-rule win of the weekend, she drew two walks and scored a run against BYU. Stewart led Arizona to its final mercy rule victory of the series by going 2-for-2 at the plate, drawing a walk, and driving in three runs.

Stewart's 2.533 OPS, eight RBI, and two home runs in conference play led the Big 12 last week. She currently leads the conference and third in the NCAA with 43 total RBI.

Stewart and the Wildcats will head to Texas Tech for the second week of conference play beginning Friday, March 13 at Rocky Johnson Field in Lubbock, Texas.
