WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – Arizona Gymnastics placed fifth at the Big 12 Championships with a 194.725 on Saturday afternoon in West Valley City, Utah. Utah placed first with a 197.675, Denver was second with a 196.575, and BYU finished third with a 196.175. Arizona State placed fourth with a 195.225 and West Virginia was sixth with a 194.250.

The GymCats opened the meet with a 49.325.
Sophie Derr led the Cats with a career best 9.925 while
Riley Carman and
Tirzah Wise also set career high scores of 9.875.
Elizabeth LaRusso followed with a 9.850.
Abigayle Martin wrapped up the rotation with a 9.80.

Arizona posted a 48.750 on vault in the second rotation. Derr and
Jessa Janicke scored a pair of 9.775s while
Ainsley Greever posted a 9.75. Martin and Wise added two of 9.725s. Â Â

The GymCats scored a 47.400 on bars in rotation three.
Sophie Derr posted a 9.80 while
Sadie Smith had a 9.725 for the Cats.

Arizona earned a 49.250 on beam in the final rotation. Martin and Wise closed out the rotation with a pair of 9.90s. Derr added a 9.85 for the GymCats and Janicke followed with a 9.825.
Gianna Lenczner had a 9.775 to round out the rotation.
