No. 13 Arizona Takes Down No. 23 GCU Behind Trice Home Run

TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 13 Arizona Wildcats took down the No. 23 GCU Lopes 9-5 on Tuesday night at Hillenbrand Stadium. Arizona improved to 24-8 with the win.  
 
The Cats scored nine runs on 13 hits and Sereniti Trice hit her first career home run and led Arizona with three RBI. Kez Lucas and Jenna Sniffen both went 3-for-4 at the plate to help the offense.
 
GCU scored two runs in the top of the first on a two-run home run to take an early lead. Arizona then tied it with two runs in the bottom of the inning on an error by the GCU defense.
 
In the second inning, Arizona took the lead to make it a 5-2 game. Addison Duke brought in the go-ahead run with an RBI single and Trice then slap hit a home run to give the Cats a three-run lead.
 
Arizona extended its lead in the third with an RBI single from Regan Shockey and an RBI groundout from Trice to make it 7-2. In the bottom of the fourth, the Cats took a six-run lead on an RBI single from Kez Lucas.
 
The Lopes cut into the Wildcats' lead to make it an 8-5 game in the top of the sixth. A two-run double, and RBI single, and a fielding error allowed GCU to score three runs.
 
The Cats added one run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 9-5 lead on an RBI single from Sniffen. In the top of the seventh, Arizona's defense shut the door on GCU after a double to leadoff the inning.
 
Rylie Holder pitched a complete game to improve to 9-3 on the season. She allowed four earned runs on seven hits and struck out three Lopes.
