TUCSON, Ariz.– Arizona fell short to the Sun Devils, 0-5, on Saturday morning on the second day of the Big 12 Preview.
Game 2 No. 20 Arizona 0, No. 11 Arizona State 5
Sadie Moore and
Brooke Boyko were the first to finish in the duel against the Sun Devils. The #5 pair came up short in two sets, 17-21, 17-21, to give ASU a 1-0 lead.
Sophia Winter and
Jamie Streit fought hard through a three-set match, dropping set one, 11-21 and picking up a tight set 2, 21-19. The #4 pair fought hard in the third set but came up short 13-15, giving ASU a 2-0 lead.
Ashlyn Zilliken and
Madeline Walker played a hard fought three-set match, getting beat in set 1, 15-21 and bouncing back to pick up set 2, 21-17. The pair ended up coming up sort dropping the third set, 13-15, giving ASU the clinching point of the duel.
Regan Holmer and
Carlie Cisneros played a tight match, dropping set one, 18-21 and set two, 19-21, to make the score 4-0 in favor of the Sun Devils.
Adriana Nieves Papaleo and
Meghan O'Meara were the last to finish up on day 2. The #3 pair lost in three sets,21-18, 18-21, 13-15, giving Arizona State the sweep.
The Cats will be back home next, Apr. 3-4, for the Wildcat Spring Challenge where they will take on, South Carolina (Fri.), FGCU (Fri.), Colorado Mesa (Sat.) and Hawaii (Sat.).
