FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Arizona Dive opened Day One at the NCAA Diving Zones at the NAU Wall Aquatic Center. The Wildcats had a strong first day of competition, with five divers advancing to the finals and two athletes heading to the NCAA Championships.
The NCAA Diving Zones serve as the final qualifying opportunity for divers to punch their ticket to Atlanta in the upcoming weeks for the final championship meet. Arizona will continue competition in Flagstaff through Wednesday.
Day One
Luke Hernandez, a freshman, punched his first NCAA Championship ticket in the 3-meter today. Hernandez finished with a combined score of 720.30.
Bo Bridges is also headed to NCAAs in the 3-meter, with a combined score of 705.10.
Three other divers gave it their all on day one of the competition.
Zara Ayazi and
Alexandria Sando fell short in the finals of the women's 1-meter.
Gage DuBois also competed in the men's 3-meter finals but fell short.
Competition will continue tomorrow, with the men's platform and women's 3-meter prelims starting at 11:30 AM MST.
