TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 10 Arizona clinched the Big 12 Regular Season Championship in dominant fashion on Thursday afternoon, defeating No. 15 UCF 4-1.
Arizona set the tone, capturing the doubles point with wins on two courts. The pairing of
Alejandro Arcila and
Cole Stelse opened with a strong victory over UCF 6-3. Shortly after,
Filip Gustafsson and
Glib Sekachov sealed the point with a 6-3 victory.Â
Jay Friend extended Arizona's lead, defeating Yassine Dlimi in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
Filip Gustafsson followed with another win, taking down Wissam Abderrahman 6-1, 7-6(2) to put Arizona one point away from victory.
Zoran Ludoski delivered the clinching moment at No. 4, defeating Pedro Rodrigues 6-3, 6-3 to secure both the match and the Big 12 regular season title for the Wildcats.Â
With the win, Arizona claims a Big 12 Regular Season Championship, marking their first Big 12 Regular Season Championship, a major milestone in the program's continued rise on the national stage.Â
Arizona will close out its regular season on the road against No. 41 Oklahoma State on April 12. The matchup marks the final match before postseason play. These two teams have met four times with this being the first match in Stillwater. The last time they played each other was last season where the Wildcats swept in a 4-0 victory.
