TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona Beach Volleyball will travel east for the first time of year to play in the NOLA Classic hosted by Tulane. This will be the final regular season tournament of the year before Arizona hosts the Big 12 Championships Apr. 23-24.
No. 20 Arizona last played two weekends ago at the Wildcat Spring Challenge where the Cats went 3-1, including a ranked win against No. 18 South Carolina. Arizona will take on Tulane (Fri.), Louisiana Monroe (Fri.), New Orleans (Sat.) and Florida International (Sat.)
NOLA Classic Match Ups
Tulane – Arizona has only faced Tulane twice and leads the series 2-0. The last matchup took place in 2015 where the Cats came out on top 5-0.
Louisiana Monroe – The Cats have only played the Warhawks once back in 2019, Arizona was able to take the match 5-0 and will look to extend the all-time record to 2-0.
New Orleans - Arizona has never played New Orleans, the SandCats will look to pick up the first win between the two teams this weekend.
Florida International – The Cats and the Panthers have never faced off. Arizona will look to pick up the first win in the matchup between the two.
Noting the Wildcats
Regan Holmer and Carlie Cisneros
Holmer and Cisneros have played as the #1 pair all season and have gone 17-9. They have picked up ranked wins against #13 GCU, #19 Georgia State and #18 South Carolina. The pair went 3-1 at the Wildcat Spring Challenge with their only loss coming to #14 Hawaii. Holmer and Cisneros will look to continue their success as the postseason approaches.
Ashlyn Zilliken and Madeline Walker
Zilliken and Walker have gone 19-7 up to this point as the #2 pair. The pair currently has the highest win percentage for Arizona. They have picked up five ranked wins against #5 TCU, #19 Georgia State, #8 ASU, #5 Florida State and #18 South Carolina. Zilliken and Walker will look to continue picking up wins and be ready for the post season.
Jamie Streit and Sophia Winter
Streit and Winter are 12-9 when playing together as Arizona's #4 pair. The pair split matches the last time Arizona was in action however earned a crucial match clinching point against FGCU to secure the duel. The duo will look to keep up their consistent play through the rest of the season.
