No. 16 Arizona Drops Extra-Inning Game to No. 21 Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 16 Arizona lost the first game of the series to No. 21 Oklahoma State, 8-7, in 10 innings on Friday.  
 
The Cats scored seven runs on 10 hits and hit three home runs in the game. Sereniti Trice, Sydney Stewart, and Tayler Biehl all had two hits. Stewart, Biehl, and Emma Kavanagh had one home run each for the Cats.
 
Eight pitches into the game, the game entered a lightning delay. Following a 44-minute lightning delay, Trice resumed the game with a double, but Arizona couldn't get a run across in the first inning. Oklahoma State struck with three runs in the bottom of the first to take an early lead. The Cowgirls scored on a leadoff home run, a passed ball, and an RBI single.
 
Oklahoma State extended their lead to 4-0 in the second inning on an RBI single and then hit a solo home run in the third inning to take a 5-0 lead.  
 
The Wildcats plated one in the top of the fourth on an RBI double from Tele Jennings to make it a 5-1 game.
 
In the top of the fifth, Arizona cut into Oklahoma State's lead with a two-run home run to make it 5-3. Kavanagh hit her sixth home run of the season – a two-run shot to left center – for the Cats.
 
Arizona brought the game within one after scoring one run in the top of the sixth. Grace Jenkins hit her first career triple to bring in the Cats' fourth run of the game.
 
Stewart tied the game at 6-6 in the seventh with a two-run home run. In the bottom of the inning, Stewart made a play at the plate to keep the go-ahead runner from scoring and send the game into extra innings.  
 
In the top of the eighth, the Cats took a 7-6 lead over the Cowgirls. Biehl hit her fifth home run – a solo shot to right center – to give Arizona the lead. Oklahoma State tied the game at 7-7 in the bottom of the inning with a solo home run.
 
Oklahoma State walked off the game in the bottom of the tenth on a bases-loaded single.
 
Rylie Holder picked up the loss to fall to 9-4 on the season. She pitched 8.1 total innings in relief and allowed five runs on five hits. Jalen Adams started the game and went one inning before Holder entered. Adams gave up three runs on four hits. Jenae Berry entered in the ninth and faced two batters before Holder re-entered the circle to close out the game.
