Arizona is Back Home for the Wildcat Spring Challenge

TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona Beach Volleyball will host the Wildcat Spring Challenge at Bear Down Beach, April 3-4. The SandCats look to continue their success at home, going 7-1 to this point. Bark at the Beach is back, bring your pups out to the beach on Friday and Saturday to cheer on the Wildcats.

No. 20 Arizona went 0-3 at the Big 12 Preview, falling to Boise State (2-3), No. 5 Florida State (1-4), and No. 11 Arizona State (0-5). The Wildcats will face No. 18 South Carolina, FGCU, Colorado Mesa and No. 14 Hawaii this weekend.  

Wildcat Spring Challenge Match Ups 

South Carolina – Arizona has never faced off against South Carolina. The Cats will look to take the lead in the series this weekend. The Gamecocks are ranked 18th in the current standings.

FGCU - Arizona has never played against FGCU. Arizona will look to get the first win between the two teams this weekend.

Colorado Mesa - Arizona against Colorado Mesa is 10-0 all time. The Cats faced Colorado Mesa earlier in the year, defeating them 4-1. Eight of the wins have come at home for Arizona.

Hawaii - Arizona is 1-8 all time in the series with Hawaii. The Cats last played Hawaii in the 2023 season, losing 1-4. Hawaii is ranked 14th in this week's rankings.

Noting the Wildcats

Regan Holmer and Carlie Cisneros
Holmer and Cisneros have played as the #1 pair all season and have gone 10-8. Their biggest wins of the season have come against #13 GCU and #19 Georgia State. The pair went 0-3 this past weekend. Both newcomers this year, Holmer and Cisneros look to continue their success as the #1 pair.

Ashlyn Zilliken and Madeline Walker
Zilliken and Walker have gone 10-8 throughout the first month of the season as the #2 pair. They were the sole point against #5 TCU in the opening weekend and picked up wins against #19 Georgia State and #8 ASU thus far. The pair went 1-2 this past weekend, getting a big win against #5 Florida State. The Junior and Sophomore pair will look to continue their success.

Meghan O'Meara and Adri Nieves Papaleo
O'Meara and Nieves paired up for the second time this season as the #3 pair. The pair went 3-1 on their first weekend together. Their biggest win of the weekend came against UC Davis where the pair earned the clinching point for Arizona in three sets to win the match 3-2. The pair went 0-2 this past weekend making them 3-3 on the season.
