INDIANAPOLIS – On Sunday at the Naismith Awards Brunch in Indianapolis, Arizona head coach
Tommy Lloyd became the first coach in program history to be named Naismith Coach of the Year.

The other finalists for the award included Dusty May (Michigan), Fred Hoiberg (Nebraska) and Jon Scheyer (Duke).

In his fifth season leading the Wildcats, Lloyd led the team to its first Final Four appearance since 2001 and finished the season with a 36-3 overall record – the most wins in a season in school history.

He was also named National Coach of the Year by
The Sporting News and earned Big 12 Coach of the Year accolades after guiding the Wildcats to the league's regular season and conference tournament titles.

Lloyd has amassed 148 wins in Tucson, the most wins in NCAA history for a coach in his first five seasons, topping the previous mark of 139.

This marks the second time in his career that Lloyd has received national coach of the year accolades after collecting USBWA and Associated Press coach of the year honors in 2022.
