No. 14 Cats Fall in Game Three to Cyclones

AMES, Iowa – No. 14 Arizona (29-9, 11-4 Big 12) lost the final game of the series to Iowa State, 12-10, on Monday afternoon.
 
The Cats scored 10 runs on 11 hits and were led by Grace Jenkins with four RBI.
 
Arizona plated one run in the first inning to get on the board. Grace Jenkins hit a double to left center to score Sereniti Trice from first base.
 
After three scoreless innings, Iowa State tied the game in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single.
 
The Cyclones took the lead in the fifth to make it 5-1. The go-ahead run scored on a wild pitch and the next two runs came home on a two-RBI double. Another wild pitch and an RBI groundout brought in two more runs for the Cyclones.
 
Arizona's offense exploded for nine runs in the top of the sixth to take a 10-5 lead over Iowa State. The Wildcats took advantage of a fielding error to score the first run of the inning and Jenna Sniffen had an RBI single to bring Arizona within two runs. Kiki Escobar scored on another Cyclone error and Regan Shockey brought in the game-tying run with an RBI single. Sydney Stewart gave the Cats the lead with an RBI single that brought in two runs. Jenkins broke the game open with a three-run home run to give Arizona a five-run lead.
 
Iowa State walked off the Cats after scoring seven runs in the bottom of the seventh. A pair of RBI singles brought in the first two runs for the Cyclones. An RBI double brought in the third run and a single scored the fourth run. With two outs, the Cyclone hit a three run home run to win the game.
 
Jalen Adams picked up the loss in the circle after pitching four total innings and allowing five runs on eight hits. Jenae Berry faced two batters in the fifth before Rylie Holder entered and pitched 2.2 innings, allowing five runs on five hits.

No. 14 Arizona will head to LSU for a three-game series beginning Friday, April 10 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
