As a Sophomore (2017): Saw action in 15 matches, including four starts, before a concussion limited her to two appearances over the final two months of the season … Posted 63 digs (1.19/set) on the year … Notched five aces (0.09/set) and 16 assists (0.30/set) on the year … Had a career-high nine digs in two matches (Eastern Kentucky, 9/1; Washington State, 9/23) … Served a career-best two aces vs. New Mexico State (9/15).
 
As a Freshman (2016): Saw action in 27 sets on the season … Totaled 17 digs (0.63/set), two aces (0.07/set) and six assists (0.22/set) … Had a season-high seven digs in Arizona’s win at No. 18 UCLA (10/9) … Served aces vs. New Mexico State (9/10) and Oregon State (9/30).
 
Prior to Arizona: Spent one season at Long Beach State where she was forced to use a medical redshirt … Attended Iolani High School in Honolulu, Hawaii prior to Long Beach State where she was a four-year starter for head coach Kainoa Obrey ... Also played two years of softball and basketball at Iolani ... Earned All-Conference Honorable Mention as a freshman and a junior ... Named to the All-Conference second team as a senior, as well as earning All-State Honorable Mention.
 
Personal: Born Sara Ke’alohilani Mie Watanabe to Curt and Christene Watanabe in Honolulu, Hawaii … Has one brother (Brett) … Father played baseball for UH Manoa and the Milwaukee Brewers organization … Mother was a cheerleader at UH Manoa … Brother Brett played baseball at Claremont McKenna … In her free time, enjoys volunteering at her dad’s physical therapy office and hopes to be a physical therapist herself … Will be in the school of art at Arizona … Chose Arizona over North Carolina, Utah, UConn, West Point, UH Manoa, UC Irvine, New Mexico State and San Diego State because “academic and athletic facilities are awesome, my teammates are great people and my coaches are great people.”
