Arizona senior linebacker Marcus Bell was named the Pac-10 Defensive Player
of the Week today for his effort that helped the Wildcats beat USC 31-24
last Saturday. A part of an Arizona defensive effort that held USC to -20
rushing yards, Bell had a team high nine tackles (six solo), one tackle
for a loss, a half-sack, one interception and he broke up a pass.
It's the third such award for Bell, as he won it twice last season
following a 21-tackle performance at Washington and an 11-tackle (five for
a loss) and two sack night versus Iowa.
Bell joins teammate Dennis Northcutt as the two Wildcats to receive Pac-10
Player of the Week honors this season. Northcutt won the offensive award on
Sept. 4, after his game at TCU, when he caught 10 passes for 257 yards and
three touchdowns.
