debut with the Wildcats, directing the team to four tournament titles,
second place finishes at both the Pac-10 and NCAA West Regional
Championships and fourth place outing at the NCAAs... Prior to last year,
McCorkle served as UA Director of Golf Rick LaRose's associate head coach
for both the Arizona women's and men's teams in 1997-98... The women's team
won both the 1998 Pac-10 Championship and NCAA West Regional, and then
placed third in the NCAA Championships... Before he came to Tucson,
McCorkle was the head coach of the Coastal Carolina men's and women's golf
teams... He is assisted by Amy Solfisburg, who is in her seventh year with
the UA women's golf program.
UA Golf Notes: Arizona return five of their top-six golfers from last year,
losing only 1998-99 senior Krissie Register... Senior Jenna Daniels was a
first team All-America selection last season, while senior Jill Gomric and
sophomore Cristina Baena were All-America second team performers... This
season, Daniels has a third and second place finish to her credit and leads
the team with a 72.50 stroke average... In her past 19 tournaments dating

5-7, to round out the fall campaign... Daniels and Gomric were both
selected to the All-Pac-10 Conference first team in voting that was done by
league head coaches... Baena was named to the All-Pac-10 second team. In
addition, Gomric was named to the All-Pac-10-Academic first team, while
senior Shannon Ingalls and junior Christina Monteiro were honorable mention
All-Pac-10 academic selections.
