Matches #11-12
THIS WEEK: No. 14 Arizona (8-2, 2-0) makes its first Pac-10 road trip of
the season when it travels to Los Angeles to take on UCLA and Southern
California. Friday's match with the Bruins will be carried live on Fox
Sports Net. The Cats rallied from an 0-2 deficit to defeat Oregon State
(9/16) before sweeping Oregon (9/17) in their opening weekend of conference
action.
WILDCAT NOTES: Arizona is off to a 2-0 start in Pac-10 play for the fifth
time (1989, '93, '94, '98). UA has never won its first three league matches
... Five different players have led the Cats in kills over their last five
matches ... The Cats' sweep of Oregon (9/17) marked the sixth time they had
held a Pac-10 opponent below a .100 hitting percentage in each game of a
match ... The Cats' 21 blocks vs. Santa Clara (9/3) are a Pac-10
season-high ... Arizona has won 23 straight matches in which it has won the
first game ... Raelene Elam posted her career-best hitting percentage mark
(.556) vs. Oregon (9/17) ... The 3,874 people in attendance at the
Arizona-Nebraska match (9/11) marked the sixth-largest crowd ever to see a
Wildcat volleyball contest ... Marisa DaLee came within one dig of posting
Arizona's 18th triple-double vs. Santa Clara (9/3), and her 11 block
assists in that match tie her for third on the Cats' single-match list ...
The Cats' sweep of No. 18 San Diego (9/4) was their first victory over a
ranked opponent since a five-game win at home against No. 7 USC on Nov. 21,
1997, breaking a seven-match losing streak ... Shannon Torregrosa became
the first Arizona freshman ever to post a double-double in her collegiate
debut at UTEP (9/1) ... She is also only the fifth Wildcat freshman ever to
start her first match under David Rubio ... Seven of the Cats' 1999
opponents were ranked in the AVCA preseason poll, including three of the
top four.

Junior middle blocker Marisa DaLee passed the
1,000-attempt plateau for her career at Nebraska (9/11), qualifying her for
