Arizona Women's Golf Wins First Spring Tournament
PALOS VERDES, Calif. - The first ranked University of Arizona women's golf team won the TRW Regional Challenge by 10 strokes today with a team score of 17-over-par 869. The tournament was held at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in the Palos Verdes Estates, a par-71, 5,900 yard layout.
Junior Christina Monteiro finished 2-over-par 215, to tie her for fourth place. Wildcat junior Jenna Daniels moved up 16 places to finish tied for eighth place with sophomore Cristina Baena (5-over-par 218). UA senior Jill Gomric finished tied for 10th place at 8-over-par 221. Rounding out the Arizona line up was freshman Julia Kraschinski, tied for 37th place with a three day total of 17-over-par 230.
Southern California finished in second place (27-over-par 879), Stanford and Georgia tied for third place (42-over-par 894) and Pepperdine finished in fifth place (44-over-par 896) to round out the top five teams. Georgia's Shauna Estes won the individual title, posting a three day total of 1-under-par 212.
The Wildcats next outing is the Wildcat Invitational Feb. 21-23, in Tucson, Ariz.
