Barbara, 10-4, in Tucson Sunday afternoon.
The Cats, who took two of three in the weekend series, improved to 15-12,
while the Gauchos fell to 9-10.
Diggins entered the game in relief in the second inning and fanned the
first six batters he faced, tying the Arizona record for consecutive strike
outs. Diggins improved to 5-0 and lowered his earned-run average to 2.41.
Junior shortstop Keoni DeRenne led the Cats at the plate, driving in four
runs with three hits, including a pair of triples. Junior first baseman
Ernie Durazo singled twice, returning to the lineup after missing six games
with a hamstring injury, extending his career-best hitting streak to 17.
Junior center fielder Troy Gingrich had three hits as well for Arizona.
Gabe Neboyia (1-3) allowed eight runs (six earned) on 13 hits over six
innings to take the loss for UCSB.
Arizona returns to action Tuesday when it plays host to 11th-ranked Houston
at 7 p.m.
