TUCSON, Ariz. The University of Arizona men's and women's track and
field teams finished competition at their first home meet of the season
Saturday at Roy P. Drachman Stadium. Over the two day meet, the Wildcats
collected four NCAA provisional qualifying marks, 30 Pacific-10 Conference
qualifying marks and set two school records.
Sophomore Brianna Glenn set a school 100m record today, running 11.49 into
a slight headwind (-0.4). Glenn won the event and earned an NCAA
provisional qualifying mark in the process. Her time also ties for the No.
9 time in Pac-10 history. During the indoor season, Glenn set school
indoor records in the 55m, 60m and long jump. She earned All-America
honors in the 60m and long jump, finishing fifth and 10th, respectively, in
the events at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Glenn also led the women's 4x100m relay team to the No. 4 time in school
history. The relay of senior Rori Kelly, Glenn, senior Nicole Thomas and
senior Carolyn Jackson ran 45.21 and finished second and was the top
collegiate team. Sheffield Elite Track Club ran 44.26, which set a
Drachman Stadium record.
On the men's side, graduate student Christopher Schaefer won the 1,500m in
3:48.42, a Pac-10 qualifying time. Junior Tom Prindiville finished second
in the event with a Pac-10 time of 3:49.14. Seniors Mike White and Jeremy
Lyon were right behind Schaefer and Prindiville in 3:56.10 and 3:57.09,
respectively.
