Tucson, Ariz.- After winning its matches against Washington and Washington
State last weekend, Arizona moved up two spots to 18th in the April 12
edition of the WingspanBank.com rankings. The ranking marks the eighth
time in the spring campaign that the Wildcats are in the top 25 and the
fourth consecutive week they have cracked the top 20.
Five other Pac-10 schools are ranked in the top 25 as well. Stanford (No.
1), Arizona State (No. 8), California (No. 4), Southern California (No.
11), and UCLA (No. 8), Washington (No. 22), Oregon (No. 53), and Washington
State (No. 61) round out the list of all the ranked Pac-10 schools.
In singles rankings, Arizona sophomore Lindsay Blau vaulted into the polls
for the first time this season at 73rd, and freshman Uzma Khan slipped two
spots to 88th.
In doubles, Blau and junior Michelle Gough earned a No. 10 ranking with a
24-9 record on the season.
The Wildcats head up to the Bay Area this weekend to square off against
top-ranked Stanford Friday at 1:30 p.m. MST and sixth-ranked California on
Saturday at noon MST.
The next team rankings will be released on April 19 followed by singles and
doubles on April 26.
