Massachussetts (35-22) pitchers
including Kim Schultze's three-run home run which ended the game
on the
mercy rule.
South Carolina took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the
first on consecutive
singles by Kendra McCutcheon and Debralee Troesch and an RBI
single by
Adrianna Baggetta.
The Lady Gamecocks scored three more in the third on an
RBI single to left
by Adrienne Genovese and a two-run single by Kim Schultze.
USC (40-26) will play the winner of the
Nebraska-Illinois State game at
7:30 p.m. Friday. UMass meets the winner of the Arizona-Middle
Tennessee
