The University of Arizona athletic department again received the honor of
being named a top-10 college for women's athletics in the September/October
issue of Sports Illustrated for Women. The Wildcats were ranked No. 7 for
the second straight year.
The magazine used several factors in determining the top-10 schools
including NCAA titles, Sears Directors' Cup points, varsity, club and
intramural opportunities, graduation rates, financial aid and fan support.
The magazine also accounted for sports-related curriculum, traditions and
attitude toward athletics.
Two other Pacific-10 Conference schools were in the top-10 rankings No.
1 Stanford and No. 5 UCLA.
